What Is Freight Forwarding? Factors to Consider when Selecting Freight Forwarder

If you are an established importer / exporter, you now know that choosing a reliable logistics or top freight forwarders can be a difficult decision because you need to make sure that your valuable assets are transported correctly and competent hands.

For those of you who are just starting out with the transport process, you don't have to worry, because everything is complicated, once you choose a safe and decent logistics company, the hardest part is over and you have to have peace of mind.

My job is to help you choose the perfect carrier that will deliver well according to your needs!

Use the following points as a guide for what information to look for when choosing a reputable freight carrier:

How big is the shipping company?

Large companies can give you an idea that they are well established and secure in their business. However, small businesses always have enough time to pay attention to detail and offer good customer care. Maybe finding a "middle" company is the best choice? Get an idea about what is freight forwarding.

Will the freight forwarder be able to handle the products you want to ship?

Some logistics companies only specialize in certain fields, such as car transport or the transport of dangerous goods. You need to make sure that the company you choose is the one that safely transports your items from point A to point B using the safest and most effective strategies.

As with any business, it's good to stay connected. A structured network of representatives around the world helps to ensure that the transport process is well communicated; this ensures smooth and timely delivery.

Is the freight carrier financially secured?

Keep in mind that just because a company seems big and well-established doesn't mean it's getting a steady cash flow. You never want to pay your agent again to find out that your shipment has not yet been released because he has not paid the shipping company!

How is their customer care process?

Do you need to dial a different phone number and always be redirected to the "correct" department, or is there a direct number you can call to make sure you always talk to the same person? You need to make sure communication is good and easy. This is very important because you have a lot of questions and worries about your agent along the way.

Inquiries and references

This point should not be overlooked. A good reference will be far away and a bad reference can save you from the same future problems. All companies should be able to provide you with a reliable list of reference contact numbers. Make sure they are well insured; if you need to, ask them for more details about their insurance plan!

Do competitive prices apply?

This last point is always the most worrying, because you have to reach for your pockets here to look for freight forwarder definition. Does the company offer an affordable price for the service you need? Acceptably, I mean that the rate can be much higher, but it can also be very low, which leaves room for concern.

Request quotes and compare them until you can choose one that offers a price that you think is "acceptable" and fair.
