A common man hair loss disorder affecting up to 80% men is called androgenetic alopecia. This disorder results in low self-esteem, reduced confidence and distress in affected men, irrespective of age or stage of baldness. An effective treatment for men hair loss is needed. Hair loss treatment includes several clinical and non-clinical methods. Non-clinical methods include the use of wig and clinical methods include medical treatment or surgery methods. It is a progressive disorder without its proper treatment. So, one with hair fall must go for its treatment as well. ·         Topical Minoxidil: Monixidil is used to promote regrowth of hairs in adult men and it is applied to the scalp where the area is affected. It is available in two concentrations either 2% or 5% and its usage depends on doctor’s instruction. Minoxidil shouldn't be used 24 hours before and after the hair treatment procedure. Before applying any hair colouring, hair permanents or hair relaxers, one must ensure that previously applied minodixil is properly washed. Don’t apply minoxidil solution on other body parts because absorption into other body parts may affect other organs and blood vessels and cause unwanted effects. In order to apply minoxidil topical solution, make sure your hairs and scalp are completely dry before applying this medicine. Apply 2ml of 2% or 5% solution on to the affected area after every 12 hours (morning and evening).Immediately after using this medicine; wash your hands to get rid of any medicine which will get on them.

After applying the minoxidil solution, allow it to completely dry for two to four hours, including before visiting bed. Minoxidil can stain clothing, hats, or linen if your hair or scalp isn't fully dry after using the medication. Minoxidil topical foam or solution is to be used on the scalp only. Keep this medicine faraway from the eyes, nose, and mouth. If you must accidentally get some in your eyes, nose, or mouth, flush it thoroughly with cool water. Do not use a hairdryer to dry the scalp after you apply minoxidil solution. Blowing with a hairdryer on the scalp may make the treatment less effective. Minoxidil solution contains alcohol that’s why it is flammable so while applying this solution avoid direct contact with any kind of heat factors and it may also cause dryness because of alcohol. If medicine causes any side effect like burning, irritation, redness, rashes, stinging, immediately tell your doctor or pharmacist about your reactions for further medical advices. This medicine is harmful if swallowed or overdoses. If dose is missed, don’t ever try to double the dose, must go to your doctor and consult for further schedule. In order to continue the growth of hairs, one must continue this medicine for a number of months, so that hair’s growth is maintained. If patient is having any other disease like hypertension or diabetes etc. he must inform his doctor about his history so that doctor prescribes according to the relevant drug interactions. The combination of minoxidil with topical tritonoin is contraindicated by irritation of the scalp because topical minoxidil has limited side effects like skin irritation or allergic dermatitis.

·         Oral Finasteride: A potent 5 alpha reductase inhibitor is used for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. This drug changes testosterone to other hormone that causes prostate to grow or hair fall in males. This is used to treat men hair loss or to increase the hair growth or to maintain hair regrowth on the scalp. With the help of finasteride 1mg, men can get benefit for mild to moderate hair fall. Finasteride also show some allergic reactions like swelling of lips or face, skin rash. Usual dose is one tablet per day and it doesn’t give benefit if used more than one a day. It also has no affect either it is used before or after food. Man hair loss is a condition that usually exists for a longer period of time because it takes longer period of time for the new hair growth, it will not show immediate results. One must use finasteride 1mg first for three months and then look for the results. Consult your doctor for its usage of duration.

·         Scalp surgery: Scalp surgery is a procedure that is used to cover men baldness. This procedure involves cutting of the skin containing hairs or pulling the skin with hairs from the sides of the head to cover the bald areas. Other surgical methods for the treatment of men hair loss include hair restoration surgery, scalp flaps, fibre implementation, alopecia reduction (AR), rotation flaps, transposition flaps.
